This tanzanite displays a vivid royal blue-violet. Tanzanite is a strongly pleochroic stone — color shifts between vivid royal blue-violet and deep violet-blue depending on light source and viewing angle.

Tanzanite is a blue-violet variety of zoisite, found exclusively near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mohs 6.5. Tanzanite is strongly pleochroic — shifting between vivid royal blue-violet, deep violet-blue, and burgundy depending on angle and light. Natural inclusions are characteristic of genuine tanzanite and are fully expected in natural stones. Diamonds are natural carbon crystals, Mohs 10 — fourteen round brilliants in an individual prong surround encircling the tanzanite — white, bright, and precisely placed.

Care:

Tanzanite is sensitive to impact, pressure, and abrasive surfaces — handle with care and avoid rough wear. Keep away from hot water and sudden temperature changes. The marquise points are particularly vulnerable to chipping — handle with care. Remove before swimming, bathing, or any prolonged water exposure. Avoid chlorine, harsh chemicals, and prolonged chemical exposure. Never apply lotions, hairspray, perfume, or cosmetics while wearing — always put on last. Avoid prolonged exposure to perspiration. Clean gently with warm water and mild soap using a soft brush to reach the deeply ornate open gallery and between all diamond settings; pat dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Never use ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Store separately in a soft pouch — never loose with other jewelry as the marquise points are vulnerable to chipping. Annual inspection recommended — verify all prong settings and diamond surround at each inspection.
