Natural sapphires may contain inclusions — these are characteristics of genuine sapphire, not flaws. Each color may read slightly differently depending on angle and light source.

Stone Notes: Sapphire is a variety of corundum — aluminum oxide — one of the most durable gemstones available, ranking 9 on the Mohs scale. Sapphire occurs naturally in virtually every color of the spectrum — color is determined by trace elements present during crystal formation. Natural inclusions are characteristic of genuine sapphire and are fully expected in natural stones.
